"...you must love the Lord your God with all your heart...
you must love your neighbour as yourself..."

Marriage Campaign—The Scottish Government has indicated its intention of putting forward a Bill to change the definition of marriage. One of the many undesirable consequences which could ensue if this Bill is passed into law is that it would no longer be possible for Catholic schools to teach that marriage is the union of one man and one woman. Another is that people might be refused the chance to be foster parents if they support the traditional definition of marriage. S.P.U.C. are encouraging people to lobby their MSPs so that they will vote against the Bill. If you are interest in lobbying your MSP or wish to know more about how to lobby your MSP, please contact Mike Ryan on 942 1481.
National Adoption Week—Falls this year between the 5th and 11th November. St Margaret’s Children and Family Care Society is actively recruiting adoptive parents. Do you think you may have the qualities needed to become an adoptive parent? Your family and home life is a gift and blessing from God. Have you ever thought of sharing that gift? If you feel that you have the energy and imagination, stability, love, and enthusiasm to offer yourself as a parent to a child or even siblings who need to belong to a new family, then we would like to hear from you. You can speak to one of our social workers by telephone on 0141 332 8371, you can pop in to our office at 274 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4JR, and you can visit our website: www.stmargaretsadoption.org.uk for more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
St. Andrew’s Parish Christmas Fair—Will take place on Sunday 18th November after 10 am and 12 noon Masses. This will be similar to last year’s, with a selection of charities at the event. All profits from the sale of Piety Stall cards and gifts to St. Andrew’s Church funds. Other groups represented will be SPRED, SCIAF, Fair Trade, Classroom for Malawi, The Little Sisters of the Poor, The Homeless Unit and The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. Tea and coffee will be served at this event, in aid of LEPRA. Donations of home baking would be most welcome (no nuts please). There will also be a raffle of a signed Celtic football so please come along and support this parish event.
Also, many thanks to all who came to the October Coffee Morning. There was a great turnout, despite the fact that it was the end of the October school break and we managed to raise the sum of £110 for the Lighthouse Project in Nagaland. We have noticed that numbers have been dropping at the Coffee mornings and we would ask for your continued support as we feel that these gatherings are very important for our parish community. The November Coffee Morning is a combined one with the Parish Christmas Fair and Charity Card Sale as referred to above. Please come along and support us.
