Feast of the Ascension of the Lord ~ this Thursday 9th May ~ Holy day of obligation. Masses 10am and 7pm. St Nicholas' at 1.30pm - P2 parents and grandparents most welcome.
J & P Scotland - Safety of Rwanda Bill is cruel and immoral and we firmly oppose its approach. Its passing into law marks a terrible day for the upholding of international law, respect for human rights, and the progression of UK politics. Refugees and all who come to our shores are made in the image and likeness of God and should be treated with the dignity they deserve, not cruelty and inhumanity.
Visit www.justiceandpeacescotland.org.uk Encourage others to continue to advocate for more humane approaches to asylum and immigration.
Rosary times for the month of May will be Monday to Friday at 9.30am and Sundays at 4.30pm. On Saturday 4th May there will be rosary for vocations during the 10am Holy Hour.
Sometime in your life, hope that you might see one starved man, the look on his face when the bread finally arrives. Hope that you might have baked it or bought or even kneaded it yourself. For that look on his face, for your meeting his eyes across a piece of bread, you might be willing to lose a lot, or suffer a lot, or die a little, even. Fr. Daniel Berrigan S.J
Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home - Disregard for the duty to cultivate and maintain a proper relationship with my neighbour, for whose care and custody I am responsible, ruins my relationship with my own self, with others, with God and with the earth. When all these relationships are neglected, when justice no longer dwells in the land, the Bible tells us that life itself is endangered. (#70)
The First Holy Communion of 44 children will be on 19th May at 12 noon Mass. We look forward to the celebration. Please note - all the first communicants will be seated together. Parents are asked to drop their child off at the hall at 11.30am sharp and make their way straight into the church. We are expecting the Mass to be busy. The hall will be set up as an overflow area to help accommodate numbers. Please remember that all children are to attend the rehearsal at 11am on Thursday 16th May in St Andrew's.
St Nicholas’ has organised a rehearsal for First Holy Communion on Thursday 16th May at 11am in St Andrew’s, which is for all pupils from all schools.
Save the date: For all the First Communicants and their families, there will be a Mass of Thanksgiving at 10am on Sunday 9th June followed by a big First Holy Communion party.

Glasgow Cathedral Choir will be performing Charles Villiers Stanford’s ‘Requiem’ on Saturday 11th May @ 7.30pm. Rarely performed, this under-rated work is beautiful and very tuneful. Stanford was likened to Brahms in his output. The slow quiet Introit is followed by a beautiful fugal Kyrie and the ethereal ‘Sanctus’ sounds like cherubs singing (angelic scoring for SSSS, AAAA, T & B). The Requiem will sound marvellous in the cathedral setting. Tickets @ £12 from Chris Sanders (942 7519) or at the door.
The Church is open until 5p.m. Monday to Saturday. Call in and enjoy the peace and quiet, and take time to sit in the stillness and silence of God.
Tea is served in the hut after daily Mass Monday to Thursday. All most welcome.
