"Whoever loves me will keep my word, says the Lord;
and my father will love him and we will come to him."

Huge thanks to all who were involved in leading the P6s in a wonderful “Called to be a Saint” Retreat Day.  Grateful thanks to Youth Ministry, parish catechists, class teachers and Caritas & PFFA candidates for all their much appreciated help and assistance. Look out for pics soon on social media.

The St Andrew’s Parish Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday 18th November after the Vigil Mass and Sunday 19th November after 10a.m. and 12 Noon Masses. All profits from the Piety Stall go to Church funds. If you run a group in the parish and would like to host a stall please contact either Anne MacIntosh (07866 009078) or Annamaria Strachan (07749 715514) before Sunday 5th November to confirm.  Tea, coffee and home baking will be served after the Sunday morning Masses with all proceeds going to The White Lily Fund. This charity was founded by one of our own parishioners, Mrs Angela Bruno MBE, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and now raises funds for research into and equipment for ALL types of cancer in the west of Scotland and has raised over £1 million to date.

ADVENT APPEAL weekends 2nd/3rd & 9th/10th December. It will soon be time for our Advent Appeal for the Christmas Gifts for Refugees and Homeless, so please start saving your toiletries etc.
Christmas Gifts – Our volunteers continue to deliver supermarket surplus each day to organisations including St Gregory’s, Wyndford and Aspire. Our intention this year is to give Christmas gifts to centres including the Wayside centre, www.thewaysideclubcentre.co.uk/ Aspire and for the first time Refuweegee www.refuweegee.co.uk/ a charity supporting refugees in Glasgow.
As ever, your help is needed to make this happen please. If you would like to help can you please either: Fill a large gift bag with one of each of the items listed below and leave in the box in the porch. These can be for ladies or gents.

Warm Hat, gloves, scarf, pants, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush and ladies gifts to include sanitary products.
A hand written Christmas card is always nice to include.
 Or provide any of the items on the list straight into separate bag provided.
It would really help our volunteers if items are in large gift bags rather than wrapped and each one includes all the items above. You'll see some spare gift bags in the porch if needed. Many, many thanks for your support as always. Ver

This breathtakingly beautiful painting of Jesus and Mary captures the Silence that accompanies the death of a loved one…and the sea of grief that engulfs us.
Love and prayer unite us with those we mourn…this five-minute video draws us into intense communion with them…with the whisper of Resurrection just around the corner.
A daily prayer to wrap around the Month of November.

We would be very grateful for some extra volunteers to help us out – if you could sometimes spare 10 minutes after Mass to help, it would be most appreciated. The rota sheet for October, November and December is on the door of the Piety Stall. Meantime, our sincere thanks to everyone who regularly volunteers to assist with running the stall. Any questions please call Anne MacIntosh 931-5861 or Annamaria Strachan 942-9799.

As before, this invitation is aimed particularly at those children in P5 who made their First Holy Communion in May earlier this year.

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - Sunday 5th November 2023
Where were the saints to try to change the social order, not just to minister to the slaves, but to do away with slavery? Servant of God Dorothy Day

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home – It is remarkable how weak international political responses have been. Consequently the most one can expect is superficial rhetoric, sporadic acts of philanthropy and perfunctory expressions of concern for the environment, whereas any genuine attempt by groups within society to introduce change is viewed as a nuisance based on romantic illusions or an obstacle to be circumvented. (#54)
