Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Holy Day of Obligation – Tuesday 15th August – Masses 10am & 7pm.
 
Nick Pryce will be ordained a Permanent Deacon on Friday  8th September by Archbishop Tartaglia at 6pm Mass here in St Andrew’s, followed by a reception in the hall to which everyone is invited.  Keep Nick and Trish and their family in your prayers these weeks as he prepares for Ordination.
 
Not baptised? Baptised in another faith? Are you interested in becoming a Catholic? RCIA, the process by which adults are received into the Catholic Church, will begin soon.  If you have any questions about receiving the Sacraments as an adult, or if you would like to know more about RCIA and the Catholic faith, call 942 4635 or email [email protected]

Children’s Liturgy Meeting for all helpers – Sunday 13th August at 11am in the Upper Hall.
 
Baptism Course – parents and godparents of children to be baptised soon are asked to attend the next preparation course on Thursday, 7th September at 7pm.
 
 
Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated for P7 pupils of St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s Parishes in St Joseph’s Church 7pm 6th February 2018.  Enrolment forms available in the porch to be returned please as soon as possible. There will be a meeting for parents and sponsors on Thursday 28th September 2017 at 7pm in St Joseph’s Church Hall, Milngavie.
 
Celebrate Scotland – 2-3 Sept. St Ninian’s High, Giffnock. Catholic Charismatic Weekend Conference. There is the opportunity for lively worship, contemplative adoration, celebration of Holy Mass, as well as individual prayer ministry. This year’s theme is “Seek first his Kingdom”. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – each Saturday from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Please consider coming to spend some time in adoration and prayer each Saturday.

Along with some of our parishioners who write for the Yours Faithfully column in the M&B Herald, this is a regular opportunity for the Around the Churches page to publicise our work, particularly in this our Golden Jubilee Year, and the contribution St Andrew's makes to the community. Like to help with tending the church gardens? To build on the success of the recent landscaping and building project, we would be grateful to anyone who would like to volunteer assisting the gardening group continue with enhancing our grounds. For more information please contact [email protected]
 
Parish recently received a great boost  - £16,139 in tax repayments from our latest Gift Aid claim. Do you pay tax? Do you Gift Aid? If you’re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid increases the value of your offering by allowing the parish to reclaim the basic rate of tax on your offering at no extra cost to you. That’s 25p for every £1 you give. Gift Aid Declaration forms available in the porch.
 
Many thanks to the kind donor for the £1000 donation for the purchase of a bench for the raised planter landscaping works.

Our Golden Jubilee Year Day Trip to Carfin for the National Pilgrimage Mass and Rosary Procession. Sunday, September 3rd. Bus will leave from Roman Road at 1pm and return 7.30pm. Cost £3. Please sign sheet in porch, if you would like to go.

Monsignor Henry, who is buried in New Kilpatrick Cemetery, Boclair Road, was parish Priest of St Andrew’s from 1978 – 1995.  The contribution he made to the development of St.Andrew’s, particularly in driving forward the construction of the present church building, was immense. In this Golden Jubilee Year, and on the anniversary of his death, the rosary will be prayed at his grave for the peaceful repose of his soul and for the eternal rest of all the faithful departed. All are most welcome. Please gather at the cemetery gates at 2pm this afternoon, Sunday, 6th August.

Mary’s Meals clothing collection. Volunteers from Mary's Meals will be here on the weekend of 16th and 17th September to collect any used clothing. A second collection will be taken up to support this important charity.
 
Evening Pilgrimage to Carfin- Sunday,th. Bus will leave at 6.30pm at the Post Office in Milngavie and return at 9.30pm. All are very welcome.
 
The Legion of Mary - new members always welcome. Meets on Tuesdays at 7.30pm in the Hut.
