The Glorious Sounds of Brass—12th May—To help celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the church building, the Co-operative Funeralcare Brass Band will be performing in the Church at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday 12th May. The band has proved to be the most successful band in the history of Scottish Brass Band Music. They have won the Scottish Championship 30 times and during the 1990’s, twice won the National Championship of Great Britain—the only Scottish band ever to win this prestigious championship. They are the current Scottish Champions and promise an exciting and different evening entertainment. Have you ever had any Connections with All Saints RC Secondary School—40th Anniversary. Following a highly successful launch event in February, the school would like to invite all past and present members of the All Saints Community to a Family Race Night. This will take place on Friday 18th May at 7.30 p.m. in St. Philomena’s Church Hall. Tickets are £5.00 for adults and £2.50 for children and can be purchased from the school office. This is an excellent opportunity to support the young people of All Saints and show the strength of community in our area. Please look out for future events over the course of the year. All former pupils, staff or anyone with former connections to the school are warmly invited.
Primary 5 Parents Committee—St. Andrew’s Primary School—We would like to thank you for your support for our forthcoming fundraiser. The £75.00 raised at the church coffee morning will go directly into the fund for Sancia McHenry. This is hugely appreciated and we thank you for all your had work.
Family Ceilidh—Shivonne and Veronica would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the family ceilidh on Saturday night. It was a full house and a great time was had by all! A special thanks also, for all their help, to Stephen, Sean and Clark Hayes; David, David Declan, Andrew and Victoria Maguire; Irene and Chloe Grossart; Paul Flanagan; Maureen and Joe Gregory; Danny McGrorry and Margaret and Christopher Sanders. A profit of £150 was made and will be donated to charity.
World Fair Trade Day 12th May—World Fair Trade Day on 12th May is organised by World Fair Trade Organization to encourage and promote trading structures and practices which work in favour of the poor and therefore help to achieve sustainable development and justice. We can each use our buying power to promote fair trade.
Justice and Peace: Fairtrade Initiatives—Bearsden and Milngavie have become central to Scotland being recognised soon as a Fairtrade Nation, with just 21 additional towns needed to sign up. The Scottish Fairtrade Forum is calling for members of a local Steering Group that will first meet in Milngavie on the evening of Monday 21st May. Additionally Shared Interest, who supply affordable finance for Fairtrade producers in low-income countries, are holding a day for members and those who want to find out more, in Edinburgh on Friday May 11th. Andrea Kearney Fund—Tickets are available for the Andrea Kearney Fund Dinner—In the Radisson Hotel, Glasgow on Saturday 19th May 2012 at 7.00 p.m. This charity is the only one in the UK which offers financial help to women diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy. The ticket price of £55.00 includes drinks on arrival, a delicious 3-course meal with wine, entertainment from some of Scotland’s most talented singers/musicians, a DJ set with dancing, and plenty of opportunities to bid in the auction or win raffle prizes.
