Year of Mercy – Reflections on scripture stories of God’s mercy- after 10am Mass Mondays 7th and 14th Nov in the upper hall. All most welcome.

Remember the Dead—The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered up every day during the month of November for the Holy Souls. Remembering the souls of the faithful departed, and praying for them is a “holy and wholesome thought.”
Considering Primary Teaching? Information evening for people considering applying for primary school teaching. St Patrick's Primary, 10 Perth Street, G3 8UQ this Tuesday, 8 November from 6.30 pm - 8.00 pm. This event will focus on preparing for interview. Representatives from the University of Glasgow, the Archdiocesan Primary Head Teachers Association (APHTA), Church Representatives and Local Authority Representatives will be present to discuss the application process, Teacher Approval etc and to explain what support is on offer and answer questions.
Preparing for Advent 2016 – The Lectionary and its purpose and the Gospel of Matthew. Canon Michael McMahon will give two talks in the Upper Hall at 7.00 pm on Thursday 10th and Thursday 17th November. Teas and Coffees will be provided. All invited to attend what should be an informative and interactive talk and discussion.

Bearsden Cross Parish Church will be holding a special 10th Anniversary Service at 7pm on Tuesday 29th November. The Kirk Session extends a kind invitation to all members of St Andrew’s to attend. Our very best wishes to Bearsden Cross congregation on the occasion of their 10th Anniversary.
Before receiving Holy Communion, we are asked to make some preparatory act of reverence such as a bow. This should be made just before receiving Communion. General Instruction of the Roman Missal, No. 160 states: "When receiving Holy Communion, the communicant bows his or her head before the Sacrament as a gesture of reverence and receives the Body of the Lord from the minister. The consecrated host may be received either on the tongue or in the hand, at the discretion of each communicant. When Holy Communion is received under both kinds, the sign of reverence is also made before receiving the Precious Blood."
God's Mercy Expressed through Music - Monday 14th November at 7pm with Sir James MacMillan, CBE at the Royal Conservatoire, 100 Renfrew Street, Glasgow, G2 3DB. All welcome. Admission Free.
Safeguarding Training - Volunteers who work in the parish with children and/or vulnerable adults, who haven't been free to attend previous safeguarding training meetings, are asked to attend on 14th November 7-9pm at 196 Clyde Street, G1 4JY. To book, please contact [email protected] or tel 226 5898.
The St Andrew’s parish Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday 20th November after 10am and 12 noon Masses. This will be similar to last year’s, with a selection of charities at the event. Could parishioners who would like to host a stall please contact either Anne MacIntosh (931 5861) or Annamaria Strachan (942 9799) to confirm. All profits from the Piety Stall go to Church funds. Tea, coffee and home baking will be served at this event.
