Bishop Robert Barron's “Pivotal Players” series begins this Thursday, October 10, at 7pm inthe upper hall. The first episode will concentrate on Blessed John Henry Newman, who is due to be canonised by Pope Francis the following Sunday, October 13. Please join us for tea/coffee and Bishop Barron’s insight into this important figure in the Church.

For the attention of all volunteers in St Andrew’s parish working with children or protected adults - please check the date on your PVG form. All volunteers should now have attended the mandatory Safeguarding level 1 training. For those who still require to attend, please note the next Level 1 training dates, which take place in Eyre Hall, Archdiocese of Glasgow, G1 4JY are: Monday 7th October ; Saturday 23rd November (2 sessions am & pm; Saturday 7th December.
The mandatory Induction part 2 training is also now in place, which all volunteers require to attend. Training dates for Part 2 are: Saturday 26th October (2 sessions am & pm) in Eyre Hall, Archdiocese of Glasgow; Wednesday 13th November in Our Lady of Lourdes, Cardonald, G52 3QU; Monday 2nd December in St Mary’s, Duntocher, G81 6DL; Saturday 7th December in Eyre Hall, Archdiocese of Glasgow, G1 4JY.

Piety Stall On behalf of the parish, our sincere thanks to Mrs Lily Keegan for all of her help with serving in the Piety Stall for the past 11 years.We are extremely grateful to Lily for giving up so much of her spare time to assist us with running the stall and helping us raise money for Parish funds. Coffee Morning—Sunday 20th October. Please come along and join us in the upper hall, after10 am, for tea, coffee and some delicious home baking. This month we are raising funds for our Parish Soup Run. This is run by a group of our parishioners who volunteer to take soup and sandwiches, on the first Friday of each month, to 2 temporary accommodation centres in the east and west end (Belgrove and Aspire).Funds will be used to buy essential items for those transitioning from temporary accommodation to a permanent home. Many thanks also to those who helped and came along to the coffee morning last month at which the sum of £170 was raised for SCIAF. Your generosity is very much appreciated. A ‘thank you’ letter from SCIAF is posted on the Narthex board.
Embroidery Group will now meet on Monday afternoons in the Lower Church Hall from 2pm - 4pm. We are very grateful to a parishioner who has kindly donated quality fabrics, threads and sewing kits to our group. We intend to make use of these, and any additional items will be sold to raise funds for the parish.More details to follow. The Befriending Service: Bearsden & Milngavie aims to tackle loneliness and social isolation in the communities of East Dunbartonshire. Locally the service provides this by telephone, 1-2-1 and group support. It’s free and has a variety of social events during the year, and is always looking for more volunteers. If you need support or want to volunteer, contact: [email protected] 0141-345-0432 The Befriending Service will have an information stall in the hall at the next coffee morning on 20th October.
The church is open until 4.45pm. Call in and enjoy the peace and quiet, and take time to sit in the stillness in the silence of God.
Tea is served in the hut after 10am daily Mass. All most welcome.
St Andrew's and St Joseph's continue to workvarious ways in an attempt to bring our parishes closer together. The clustering group meets 4/5a year and is still looking for a few more members.
