I am making a special and personal appeal to all parish messengers. Your help is very much needed to deliver the Parish Mission leaflet to all the members of the parish over the next few weeks. The Mission begins on June 3rd and we would like all 1200 households to receive an invitation this instance. They will be available for messengers to collect from the church on 13th/14th May.

Foodbank - Stella and Tom Reid are to finish up looking after the weekly delivery of donated food items to the foodbank after many years of faithful service. Our very sincere thanks to Stella and Tom for all their efforts, week in and week out, delivering to Maryhill and Drumchapel foodbanks. The generosity of their time has been very much appreciated. We are therefore looking for volunteers to continue Stella and Tom's work of delivering to the Drumchapel foodbank every Monday. If you are able to help, please speak to Fr Mackle.
 
Youth Event - Calling all secondary school pupils. “The Summit”. Jam-packed with exciting talks, workshops, activities, Mass with the Archbishop, social and food. Takes place in Blessed John Duns Scotus Church, Ballater Street, 2-5pm next Sunday 14th May. Visit www.facebook.com/RCAGY Youth
 
May Devotions – Rosary & Benediction – Sundays at 4.30pm.
 
First Holy Communion celebrations for our parish community will take place at the 12noon Masson 14th& 21st. Please keep the first communicants in your prayers. Rehearsals – Thurs 11th& 18tham Mass. The Piety Stall has a large selection of cards and gifts on sale for children receiving their First Communion.
 
Congratulations and very well done to Liam McKechnie, who receives his award at the awards ceremony at the Clyde Auditorium 8th June.
 
Vocations discernment evening this Fri 12th May at Turnbull Hall. Vocations to the Priesthood Initiative. Pick up a copy of the Vocations leaflet from the church porch. It is a good read of several young men who have discerned a vocation to the Priesthood.
 
Special Second Collection this weekend for Vocations Sunday - Ecclesiastical Students Fund.
 
World Fair trade day is on 13th May. Buying Fair Trade goods is a tangible contribution to the fight against poverty worldwide.new Fair Trade shop and cafe, run by a consortium of local Fair Trade groups is now open at Gavin's Mill Milngavie. Celebrate the feast of St Julie Billiart with the Notre Dame Community in Scotland at the Immaculate Conception Church on Friday 12th May with Mass at 7.00 pm followed by refreshments. All most welcome.
 
Parish Mission Youth Mass Saturday 3rd June 6pm – We are looking for young people of the parish to be involved in various Mass ministries e.g. as a pass keeper, server, extraordinary minister, bidding prayers, offertory or with the music. Give your names to Fr. Mackle, if you would like to be involved. Primary 7 will be arranging readers for the Mass, which will be followed by pizza in the upper hall.
 
St Andrew’s Primary PTA is hosting a Ladies Charity Night in the school hall on Friday 2nd June 7pm – 11.30pm. This year the profits will be split evenly between school funds and Richmond’s Hope, which provides support to bereaved children. Tickets are £7 and include a cocktail on arrival (BYOB). Sacrament of Confirmation next year will be celebrated for P7 pupils of St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s Parishes in St Joseph’s Church on the evening of 6th February 2018.  Enrolment forms available in the porch to be returned please by 28th June.   Sacrament of Confirmation – Training for Catechists – 5th Sept. Catechists and those involved in catechesis in the parish, who would be keen to be involved in the Confirmation Programme and attend training, please speak to Fr Mackle
 
The Halls Committee is looking for new members. The halls are a valuable asset for the church and have raised over £15,000 per year for the last few years for church funds through commercial lets and private functions. Halls Committee is responsible for managing these lets together with the maintenance of the decoration of the halls, keeping consumables topped up and assisting at some Parish functions. The committee meets, on average, 4 times a year. The committee is looking for new members to help with the running of this important aspect of parish life. If you are interested in joining the committee, or want to find out a bit more about what they do, please contact Father Mackle on 0141 942 4635.
 
The Halls Committee is exploring the installation of a ceiling mounted, electrically operated projection screen to help facilitate presentations in the Upper Hall. We would like to know if there are any parishioners who would be interested in supplying and installing this screen at a market rate. If so, could you please contact the Halls Letting Secretary, Gordon Reid on 07528 425 698.
 
6 Week Module Adult Faith Development Course starts 9th May in Immaculate Conception Hall. For more details and information see poster and flyer in the porch.
 
Glasgow SPRED have their annual fundraiser Ceilidh/Tombola on   Friday 2 nd June in St Thomas's, at which our Grand Raffle will be drawn. Donations for the Tombola will be very gratefully received. Lorna Donnelly(942 0696) and friends will be pleased to sell you Raffle tickets.Thank you for your wonderful support.
 
Lisbon Lion Event As this is a sell-out there will be no admittance without a ticket. Try to be seated by 7.20 pm as once film begins hall will be in darkness. Cups will be available to avoid use of glassware. Colours may be worn !!!!! Wish everyone an enjoyable evening.
 
Big Band Sound Golden Jubilee Celebration Wed 24th May 8pm – 10pm in the Hall. Tickets going fast - £5 from Dorothy 587 7319 (B.Y.O.B).
 
Volunteers needed please - We are holding a Parish BBQ on Sunday 11th June, the last day of our Parish Mission. This will be in the grounds and upper hall after the 12 o'clock Mass. Help is needed to organise in advance, set up on the day and help with catering. Sign up sheets are at the back of the porch for next fortnight until 21st May. If you are able to offer some help in any of these areas. Many thanks.
