Helping Catholics to reflect on the truths of their faith.
Year of Faith—Please complete and return the forms distributed for those interested to the basket at the porch of the church.  First meeting is the 11th October.

Year of Faith—Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction—from after 12noon Mass until 5pm in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Sunday 14th October to mark the opening of the Year of Faith.

Parish Pilgrimage Group Reunion meeting—Thursday 11th October at 7pm at the Lower Hall.

Mgr. Eugene McGee—Has been ill.  Many parishioners have been enquiring about him.  He has moved to St. Joseph’s Robroyston.  We thank him for all the Mass supply he has provided for us in recent years.  As a consequence there may be week days when 10am Mass may not be celebrated in the meantime.

Family Ceilidh—To celebrate St. Andrew’s night, we are holding a family Ceilidh on Saturday 24th November in the Upper Hall from 7pm—10pm.  B.Y.O.B. and soft drinks and we’ll provide burgers, hot dogs and pizza.  £15 per family ticket.  Contact Shivonne Hayes on 942 8603 / email [email protected] or Veronica Maguire on 942 0607 / email [email protected]

Altar Servers Training—There will be four sessions held in the Church
Session Three Sunday 7th October 2pm-3pm
Session Four Sunday 7th October 3pm-4pm
Servers are asked to attend only one of the training sessions

Friday 2nd November 7.30pm--The Glasgow Gospel Choir will be performing a rich collaboration of African and Gospel music from an energetic mix of talented musicians.  All proceeds will go towards the African Youth Development Action Project, Liberia (ADAP).  Tickets (including cheese & wine) £10/£7  Children free!

Primary 4 Parents—The Piety stall has a selection of books about the lives of the Saints on sale which may be helpful with preparation for Confirmation.

Coffee Morning—Sunday 21st October after 10am Mass.  Proceeds to Lighthouse Projects for street children in Nagaland, India.  Donations of home baking (no nuts please) very welcome.  Please hand in before 10am Mass.  Thanks

First Communion Dates—5th, 12th & 19th May at 10.00 a.m. and 12 noon Masses.

Parents Meeting— For First Communion and Confirmation  for all intending to present children of P4 stage—on Wednesday 24th October in St. Andrew’s Primary School at 7.30 p.m.  Please note—the meeting is in the school

First Confession Dates—2nd & 9th March at the church at 10.30 a.m.  Parent meeting for First Confession on Thursday 17th January  at the Parish Upper Hall at 7.30 p.m.

Enrolment Forms—For the Sacraments are in the folders on the table at the porch of the church.

A form for each child and for each Sacrament requested should be completed and returned to the Parish Priest by 31st Oct.  2012.   Thanks

We Need Your Help—The Messenger Service is seen as an important way of reaching out to all the Parishioners of St. Andrew’s Church.   Although we have a number of existing messengers, we urgently need more to assist delivering the Reachout Leaflet four times a year to about 10 addresses in your own locality.  If able help please leave your name and contact No. on the form on the notice board at the church or phone John Heath 0141 570 0797.

Parish Christmas Fair and Charity Christmas Card Sale—Sunday 18th November—after 10.00 a.m. and 12 noon Masses.  To host a stall contact Anne MacIntosh 931 5861 or Annamaria Strachan 942 9799.  Tea, coffee will be served. Donations home baking (no nuts) gratefully received.  Please note the Piety Stall has a large selection of Confirmation cards and gifts in stock.

Fashion Show/Hostess Evening—On Thursday 8th November in Upper Hall at 7.30pm.  Fashion by Vanity Fair Bearsden.  Tickets £6.00 incl tea.  Further information contact Norah Mochan on 570 0643.

White Flower Collection—Last weekend.  Many thanks.  The sum collected was £1381.90.  Please note the International  Federation of Professional Abortion and Contraception Assoc is holding a conference in Edinburgh to make conscientious objection illegal.  SPUC is organising a pro-life witness outside the conference on October 19th.  To take part contact SPUC at 0141 221 2094

Quarterly Collection—Is now due.  Envelopes at the Piety Stall.

Bob & Catherine McKillop and family—Wish to thank Fr. Donnelly and the parishioners of St. Andrew’s for their kind thoughts and prayers during their grandson Matthew’s recent illness.  Many thanks also to the Padre Pio group for keeping Matthew in their prayers.  Thankfully Matthew is now on the road to recovery.
