For you do not know on what day your Lord will come."

First Holy Communion Masses - next one is today Sunday at 2pm and the final one next Sunday. Please keep the boys and girls, and their families, teachers and catechists in your prayers. They have waited so patiently for this celebration on their journey of faith. Masses are being live streamed and videoed for family and friends.
Remember the Dead—The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered up every day during the month of November for the Holy Souls. Remembering the souls of the faithful departed, and praying for them is a “holy and wholesome thought.”
There will be a Memorial Mass this month, but it will not be possible this year, unfortunately, for it to be a public Mass, as it has been in past years. With numbers being severely restricted in the church, I regret to say that we wouldn’t be able to have all families who have lost a loved one over the past year together for Mass. This year’s Memorial Mass will therefore be live streamed on Sunday 22nd November at 2pm on our YouTube channel via www.standrewsbearsden.co.uk As a community, it is important for us to remember those who have gone before us in faith. A memorial candle will be lit during the Mass for each loved one who has died over the course of the past year.
Just a reminder - Primary Three enrolment for the Sacraments, and Primary Seven enrolment for Confirmation - please collect a form before or just after daily or Sunday Mass from your parish of either St Joseph's or St Andrew's
Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation for S1 pupils will be on 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th Nov 7pm. Please keep the candidates in your prayers. Hopefully, all families are finding the online catechesis for home learning useful. If any assistance is needed at any time, please call or email. An instructional video will be sent out soon.
The Piety Stall online store now has a large selection of cards and gifts for First Communion and Confirmation for sale, as well as Christmas cards, Advent calendars, candles and Christmas Eve boxes. Orders can be placed and either collected from the organiser’s homes or delivery can be arranged if collection isn’t suitable.https://www.standrewsbearsden.co.uk/piety-stall.html
SCIAF REAL GIFTS This year, SCIAF is asking people in Scotland to buy a water filter as a Christmas gift to help parents in Ethiopia to protect their children from preventable diseases caused by dirty and unsafe water. It will also enable the women and girls who would normally spend hours walking to fetch often dirty, dangerous water, to get an education and learn the skills they need to break the poverty cycle. Please see the poster and catalogue on the church notice board or visit www.sciaf.org.uk/realgifts for some other gift ideas.

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - 8 November (Remembrance Sunday 2020) Lasting peace however is not just a matter of structures and mechanisms. It rests above all on the adoption of a style of human coexistence marked by mutual acceptance and a capacity to forgive from the heart. We all need to be forgiven by others, so we must all be ready to forgive. Asking and granting forgiveness is something profoundly worthy of man; sometimes it is the only way out of situations marked by age-old and violent hatred. Pope St. John Paul II, Message for World Day of Peace 1997
As seating capacity in the church is much reduced due to current social distancing guidelines, a booking system is required. To register to use the booking system, please go to www.standrewsbearsden Please note that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass continues to be suspended. It is still fine not to go to Mass during these circumstances.
Here's some helpful guidance from the Bishops' Conference of Scotland
Please familiarise yourself with it ahead of attending Mass.
