"This is the day the Lord has made;

A Very Happy Easter to everyone. ‘This day was made by the Lord; we rejoice and are glad.’

Congratulations and welcome to Gemma and Millie. At the Easter Vigil, our parish community welcomed them into our faith by celebrating their initiation as full members of the Catholic Church. Please keep them in your prayers. They will continue to journey over the next few weeks through RCIA in the Easter period known as Mystagogia (entering into the Mystery), and we’re looking forward to an RCIA Fish Supper Night soon.

Fabric & Finance - I want, on behalf of all in St Andrew’s, to thank Brian Donnelly for very faithfully serving as F&F chairman for many many years. A huge thanks to Brian for all his dedicated efforts and hard work in this important area of parish life. Grateful that he is willing to remain on in the area of parish finance in a supportive role. Gary Wilson has very kindly agreed to take over the office of F&F chairman, for which I am very grateful.

SVDP - A huge amount of thanks to Gerry O’Callaghan and Donal McDermott, who finished up recently being conference members after many years of faithful service. I want, on behalf of all in St Andrew’s, to thank both Gerry and Donal for their dedicated efforts and good work in this vital area of parish life and mission. Gerry will be succeeded as President of the conference by Ricky Jackson, and very grateful to Ricky for his willingness to take over this role. Thank you to Donal and Gerry for being here these past few months to assist with welcoming our SVDP’s new members, Catherine, Audrey and Lorraine.

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - Let us accept the grace of Christ’s resurrection! Let us be renewed by God’s mercy, let us be loved by Jesus, let us enable the power of His love to transform our lives too; and let us become agents of this mercy, channels through which God can water the earth, protect all creation and make justice and peace flourish. Pope Francis, Urbi et Orbi Message, Easter 2013

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home -
Furthermore, when media and the digital world become omnipresent, their influence can stop people from learning how to live wisely, to think deeply and to love generously. In this context, the great sages of the past run the risk of going unheard amid the noise and distractions of an information overload. Efforts need to be made to help these media become sources of new cultural progress for humanity and not a threat to our deepest riches. (#47)

Really grateful for the donations of jars and egg cartons. The foodbanks thankfully now have enough and no more needed, please, until the next appeal.  Many thanks

Coffee Morning—Sunday, 16th April - Please come along and join us in the upper hall, after 10 am Mass, for tea, coffee and some delicious home baking.
After a special plea by one of our parishioners, whose teenage cousin has had wonderful support whilst currently going through treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma, this month we are raising funds for The Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre in Glasgow. One of our parishioners, Dr Karen Keeshan, works there and the centre relies greatly on donations to fund its research, so please come along and help support this very worthwhile research. Karen will be there on the day to answer any questions you may have about the Centre.
Many thanks also to those who helped and came along to the March coffee morning.
The sum of £118.50 was raised for SCIAF’s Syrian Earthquake Appeal.
