and among his own kin and in his own house.”

Happy Holidays ~ Going away? Do check masstimes.org for a church near you.  A warm welcome to those who are visiting us at this time.

Huge thanks to everybody who came along to last Saturday’s quiz night. Terrific night – well supported – and a massive thanks to all who organised the night. Congratulations to the winning team – The Mighty Quinns. Total success as a fun night and raised over £500 for WYD Lisbon. We’ll be announcing the date of our next parish social soon.

World Youth Day – 1st – 6th August – Hannah Quinn and over 60 young folk from across the Archdiocese will be setting off soon for WYD Lisbon to join over 1 million young people for the celebrations.

To this year’s Assembly of Clergy, the archbishop has invited Fr Stephen Wang, author and presenter of Sycamore, a series of videos suitable for evangelisation and renewal. You might want to have a wee look at them online - sycamore.fmSycamoreprogrammehttps://www.sycamore.fm   They’re free of charge and have some good ideas about how we in our parish might evangelise.

Well done for establishing the Deanery Councils within a fairly short time frame. All councils have submitted their initial reports as requested for 18th June. After the summer the Evangelisation Steering Committee will respond with feedback to encourage Councils in continuing to reflect on how we can be an evangelising church and how we can best use our resources. Archbishop Nolan.

St Joseph’s and St Andrew’s – We’ll be meeting soon to explore working more closely. Regular updates following Deanery Council and Pastoral Area meetings will be made to the parish.

Confirmation Enrolment Forms will be available from the sacristy at each Mass from mid August.

FYI ~ Work will begin soon to convert the upper hall window into patio doors leading to a sizeable outdoor patio area. Our upper hall and crypt have had energy efficient lighting installed, the crypt has had extensive work carried out to make storage space more ordered and redecoration work has begun on the lower hall. We look forward to its new look.

WiFi. Church, halls, house, hut and grounds now all have password protected guest wifi.

New Bench - We are very grateful to the donor of a new outdoor bench for our patio.

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - Sunday 9 July   As a general principle it may be laid down that a worker ought to have leisure and rest proportionate to the wear and tear of their strength, waste of strength must be repaired by cessation from hard work.
Rerum Novarum, para. 42

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home - Besides, we know that approximately a third of all food produced is discarded, and “whenever food is thrown out, it is as if it were stolen from the table of the poor”. (#50)

It is pleasant to spend time adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.  The Eucharist is such a priceless treasure ~ by praying before it, we are able to make contact with Christ present in the Most Holy Sacrament.   Saturdays 10am until 11am.  Confessions throughout. Confessions  also on Saturdays 4.15pm – 4.45pm & Sundays 9.15am – 9.40am

The church is open until 5pm Mon to Sat. Call in and enjoy the peace and quiet and take time to sit in the stillness in the silence of God.

Tea is served in the hut after Mass Mon to Thurs. All most welcome.

Trip to Walsingham – Sat 5th August. Starts with 12 noon Mass. For coach details go to www.prolifepilgrimage.org or call 01858571242. If you would like to meet up with other parishioners who’ll be going, let us know.

Interested in being part of a Parish Visiting Team?  We would like to form a team to visit homes in the parish. Volunteers would be given training and would visit in pairs. They would be required to complete a Safeguarding form and attend the Safeguarding Induction course. Please get in touch, if you are interested. [email protected]

Bereavement Support Group is willing to help anyone seeking assistance. If you have suffered a bereavement (not necessarily recently) and feel you could benefit from talking to someone about it, please call 942 4635 or email [email protected]

Save the date - Day Trip to Carfin for the National Pilgrimage 3pm Mass and Rosary Procession. Sunday, September 3rd.   Free Bus.   More details soon.

Drumchapel food bank - During the summer holidays school meals are not provided, so the need is even greater than usual. If you are able to take your donation straight to the Foodbank at Ladyloan Pl, G15 8LB, that would be good.  If not, do leave your donation, please, in the house porch.  Many thanks.

Catholic…? Thinking about it…? Know someone who is…? Please speak to Fr. Mackle if you would like to know more about becoming Catholic and the RCIA process.

For women affected by separation and divorce – confidential and peer support Friday 4th August St Patrick's, Dumbarton 6-8p.m. [email protected]

Save the Date! As part of the Season of Creation  (1 September - 4 October) we are planning a "Creative Crafternoon" on Saturday 9 September from 2p.m. to 5p.m. We will have crafting materials available for all ages or just bring along your own and enjoy the spirit of creativity in good company. More details soon. If you have a crafting skill of any kind you'd be happy to display/share/teach, we really want to hear from you! Please email:  [email protected]
