A good time was had by all the young people who gathered for last Saturday’s Fun Night. Many thanks to the youth  ministry team s of both parishes for looking after all the preparations and the organisation. Many thanks to Domino’s for donating the pizzas.

Many thanks too to our Caritas candidatesfor all their good work last weekend with the youth evening and Mary’s Meals.
 
We are looking for people to join the youth ministry team.The team meets a few times a year and looks after the preparations and organisation of parish youth events. If you would like to get involved, please contact Fr Mackle or one of the members of the team. We are always looking for ideas as well for youth events. So, if you have any and would like to help out with them, let us know. Next youth ministry meeting – 1stOct 7pm in the chapel house.
 
Today is SPRED Sunday SPecial REligious Development. SPREDworks within the Church to nourish accepting and inclusive communities for people with learning disabilities. We are very blessed to have our own parish SPRED group, which meets every Wednesday evening in the upper hall. Please pick up a SPRED leaflet from the porch. The second collection will be taken up to support the good work of SPRED.
 
Thank you from Mary’s Meals- 180 bags of clothing were donated for rags to riches, and the terrific sum of £1,667.72 was raised from  raffle tickets and donations.
 
Mass for Newly-Married Couples  will be celebrated bytheArchbishop on Sunday 7th October at 3pm in St Andrew’s Cathedral. All those married in the past few years are most welcome, as are their families and friends.
 
Calling all young people. How do the sacraments lead us to become“fully mature with the fullness of Christ”?Come along to the Glasgow Faith Forum’s fortnightly talks this autumn to find out– Turnbull Hall, University of Glasgow Catholic Chaplaincy. 20th SeptemberThe Sacraments as God’s masterpiece in the life of His peopleby Fr Kevin Douglas. Pilgrimage of the Icon of Jesus the Teacher – Holy Hours in our deanery in           St Eunan’s, Clydebank, 15thSept at 2pm, and 16thSept at 3pm. All most welcome. For full details of the Icon’s pilgrimage, see porch noticeboard.
 
Catholic? Not baptised? Baptised in another faith?programme of learning and instruction will begin 26thSept at 7pm in the Hut.    Please speak to Fr. Mackle if you would like to know more about RCIA and the Catholic faith.
 
Confirmation meeting for parents and sponsors will be held in St Joseph’s Church Hall, Milngavie, at 7pm on Thursday 27thSeptember.
 
Primary Three Parentsintending to present their child for the Sacraments of Reconciliation in 2019 and First Holy Communion in 2020 in St Andrew’s Parish, please complete an enrolment form available in the church porch and return it by 23rdSeptember. Many thanks.

Vocations Awareness Week – 9th – 15thSept. As part of St Nicholas’ Primary marking this important week for Vocations Awareness, Fr Mackle and Deacon Tommy will meet with the P7 pupils and their teachers Tuesday 11th Sept 2pm to have a chat about vocations, which will include Q&A.  Pray for vocations, especially for our archdiocese. Prayer cards available in the porch.

St Andrew’s Pre-School & Toddler Lunch Club. Join us every Thursday (term time from 6th September) at St Andrew’s Church  lower hall, Roman Rd, Bearsden.   12:15pm – 2:30, £1 per family   All Welcome.
 
Parishes Cluster Group - We are looking for one or two new members.The group meets four times a year, and helps prepare social and spiritual events. If you would like to get involved, please contact John Heath j.heath17@ntlworld.com  Next meeting – 27thNov 7pm  in St Joseph’s.
 
Baptism Course for parents and godparents - Thurs, 13th Sept 7pm in the upper Hall.
 
Altar Servers.  Any young member of the Parish who would like to become an Altar Server is invited to contact Chris Sanders (942 7519) or Fr. Mackle or Mgr Ryan, who will gladly take your details.  This invitation is aimed particularly at those children in P IV who made their First Holy Communion in May earlier this year. Training sessions will start in the near future.  
 
Mary’s Meals Coffee Morning– today Sunday afteramMass in the upper hall and we will be raising money for Mary’s Meals, the Scottish-based charity which provides one good meal to some of the world’s poorest children, every school day. Evening Pilgrimage to Carfin– this Thursday  13th Sept. Bus will leave at 6.30pm at the Post Office in Milngavie and return at 9.30pm. All are most welcome.
 
Meet smallholder farmers from Malawi at a Justice and Peace event: Immaculate Conception, Maryhill; Tuesday 11thSeptember at 7 pm. Just Trading Scotland has been importing Kilombero rice from Karonga in northern Malawi for 10 years and supporting community development there. Howard and Webster are the Chair and Vice Chair of the smallholder farmers’ association in Karonga with 9000 members and will talk about their members’ precarious lives and how we can assist their journey out of poverty. All welcome to come and meet the farmers.

“Nay Nukes Anywhere” Faslane 22nd Sept  Gather at Faslane Peace Camp 12 noon and walk from the Peace Camp to the North Gate of the base for the rally, a distance of around a mile. Rally should end between 3 and 4 p.m.    Justice and Peace Group
 
St Andrew's Music & Quiz Night- Saturday 24 November. Tickets £5 on sale soon. This year we will be running the evening as a fundraiser for SAMH (the Scottish Association for Mental Health).  Raffle prizes will be gratefully received nearer the time and we will also be looking for volunteers for the come-backappearance(for one night only)the pop-up choir so get your vocal chords in order!
