Advent Confessions in St Andrew’s 6p.m. – 7pm on Monday 19th December, (as well as the usual Saturday and Sunday times) and in St Joseph’s at 2p.m. on Tuesday 20th December 
 
Festive Teas and Coffees –Today Sunday 18th December.   Please join us for mince pies and tea/coffee/mulled wine in the Upper Hall  after 10am Mass. This month we will be raising funds for the St Nicholas Care Fund, (which helps so many different kinds of good causes).
 
Happy Christmas School Holiday!  All at St Andrew's wish all children, young people and teachers a safe and happy Christmas school holiday.
 
Primary Three Parents- First Confession Parents’ Meeting – Thursday 19th January 2023 at 6.30p.m. in St Andrew’s church. 
Primary Four Parents- First Holy Communion Parents’ Meeting – Tuesday 31st January 2023 at 6.30p.m. in St Andrew’s  church. 
Primary Seven Parents- Confirmation Parents’ Meeting  - Tuesday 28th February 2023 at 6.30p.m. in St Andrew’s church.    
 
Altar Servers’ Awards. During Archbishop Nolan’s recent visit, five Servers (Abigail Borland, Hannah & Emma Quinn, Imogen Noonan and Rosie Smith) exchanged their familiar red cord for a gold cord, acknowledgement of having served faithfully for five years at St Andrew’s. Well done and congratulations to all concerned. Doubtless, the Archbishop was impressed. Although three youngsters have just completed training and one more is due to start in the New Year, there is a real need for more Altar Servers and anyone interested should approach Fr Mackle, or Chris Sanders (942 7519)
 
St. Andrew’s Whist Christmas Party now rescheduled to take place on WEDNESDAY 21st December in the Lower Hall, from 2pm – 4:15p.m. Tea and coffee and party food will be served. Entry £2. Looking forward to seeing everyone. New members always welcome.
 
Online Prayer event for young Catholic Adults aged 20-40 - rosary and reflection via Zoom on Tues 27th Dec at 8:00-8:30p.m. Great opportunity to meet and socialise with other young adults. For more info and tickets email: [email protected]

The Church is looking to set up a network of counsellors for married couples in difficulty. If you are qualified as a counsellor and would be interested in completing some further training to work in this area, particularly here in Glasgow, please contact 07706 063936.

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - Sunday 18th December "Rejoice and be glad that so great and good a Lord, ... willed to appear despised, needy, and poor in this world, so that men who were in dire poverty and suffering great need of heavenly food might be made rich in him."  Saint Clare of Assisi 
 
Gifts for the homeless  ~ we are SO grateful for the incredibly generous donations of gifts for the homeless communities that St Andrew’s parish serves. The gifts will be taken this week by our volunteers to the centres that we visit  and will be very gratefully received before Christmas. Many many thanks Veronica McLaughlin and volunteers
 
St Nicholas Care Fund. The projects funded are in the main to help children and young people, special needs’ groups and senior citizens. St Nicholas take home collection boxes available in the porch to be returned please by 15th Jan. Many thanks
 
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – each Saturday from 10.00a.m. until 11.00a.m. with Confessions throughout.Please consider coming to spend time in adoration and prayer.
 
Remember in your prayers – Gemma, Millie and Eleanor who are all journeying through RCIA to receive the Sacraments and become Catholic this Easter.

To express our thanks for Monsignor Ryan’s 8 years’ faithful service, there will be a celebratory Mass and presentation this evening at the 5p.m. Vigil Sat 17th Dec. After Mass - buffet and bar / tea & coffee to which all are most welcome images on this link.
 
Drumchapel Foodbank-Holiday Closure  Last delivery before Christmas is Wed 21st Dec. Re-opens 28th/29th Dec for 2 days. Re-opens Wed 4th Jan. More than 30 bags were delivered in week ending Friday 2nd Dec. Many thanks for all donations this year.

Drumchapel Foodbank. Regularly your donations are dropped off at the foodbank by our parish volunteers. Thanks for continuing to give the foodbank your support.   
 
Our soup-run volunteers continue to collect donations from M&S, Byres Rd & Milngavie for delivery to Drumchapel & St Gregory’s Foodbanks, the Wayside Club & Aspire.

​Carol Singing at Asda Saturday 17th December  raised a fabulous £612, which will be split between Drumchapel Foodbank and St Margaret’s Hospice.
