We pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of Kay Dyer, who died peacefully in St Joseph's, Robroyston, on Tuesday. Thoughts and prayers are with Jimmy, Kate, Jim and Rosie and the whole family.

The funeral Mass for Kay will be on Friday 30th April at 10am. The Mass will be private for family only, but will be live streamed.

May God give Kay rest and peace in the kingdom of light, and may Jimmy and his family find comfort during this sad time.

St Andrew's Playgroup

22/4/2021

For over 30 years there has been a 0-5 playgroup at St Andrew's Parish, it has been invaluable to many children, parents and grandparents all getting to know each other before starting school.

Once the current restrictions are lifted there is a great opportunity for someone to start a new group and at this time the lower hall has a lot of flexibility with available times. The group would be a great resource for all families connected with St Nicholas Primary.

If you would like to know more about starting the group or wish to be updated when a new group starts please contact Aura Murphy on 07881 445565 or email [email protected].

We look forward to these Masses being celebrated in May & June. They'll be a bit different from what we're normally used to, but they'll be no less special occasions of celebration for the boys and girls.  We keep them all in our prayers. Each Mass will be live streamed with each family given a password link to give to friends and family.

Remember, face coverings will need to be worn at all Masses.

Videos.  To help with the preparation, online catechesis and instructional videos will be posted soon to all families.

A Few Words Sunday 18th April

18/4/2021

Hello, everyone,

I hope this finds you safe and well.

It's great that we're now free to travel between areas, and good news that up to six of us can have an outdoor meet up.

The churches also got some good news this week. The Scottish Government has announced that from a week tomorrow, Monday 26 April, the '50' limit will be removed. This will mean that there will be no fixed maximum attendance for Masses, but we'll still be required to observe the 2 metres social distancing rule.

So, that means that in St Andrew's, from Monday 26th April, our church will now be able accommodate a 20% increase.   We're still permitted, thankfully, to use our two halls for each Mass.

Booking for Mass will still be required for the Vigil and 10 am & 12 noon Sunday Masses. No need to book for 10 am weekday Mass Monday to Friday.

At present, there is still no obligation to go to Mass.

If you haven't managed along though since the church reopened, I hope you'll feel you're able to come along now. If you still feel you aren't able to go to Mass, don't worry, as Mass will continue to be live streamed.

Until Monday 26th April, the maximum at weddings remains 5 and at funerals 20. Although after that date, the maximum at both weddings and funerals will rise to 50.

The Scottish Government’s plan, provided the data keeps going in the right direction, is that in early June this limit for weddings and funerals should rise to 100 and then 200 at the end of June. Keep in mind, though, that as long as the 2 metres social distancing rule remains in force, St Andrew's church would not be able to fit such large numbers.

The number permitted at our First Holy Communion and Confirmation Masses, thankfully, will now be able to be increased slightly, and all families will be advised of the revised numbers.

It'll soon be that time of the year again for pics of your May altar, so have your camera at the ready.

Have a safe and happy Sunday.

Fr Mackle
