Drumchapel food bank was closed on several days during the Christmas period, though a delivery will be made today, December 29th.
Distribution returns to normal on January 5. Thanks to all who contributed throughout this difficult year. As well as donations of food items, which can be left in the house porch, cash donations are used by the parish to purchase regularly around £1000 of food items which are taken straight to the food bank.

The funeral for Deacon Tommy's mum, Betty Thompson, will take place on Friday 31st December at 12 Noon in St Alphonsus' Parish, 89 Abercromby Street, Calton. Please pray for Tommy's mum and the peaceful repose of her soul, and for Deacon Tommy and his family that they may be comforted. We also pray for Tony Docherty of T&R O'Brien who has died, and for the peaceful repose of his soul. Tony was so well known in many parishes, not least St Andrew's where he and his parents had been parishioners for many years.
Thoughts and prayers are with Janice and her family. May God give Tony rest and peace in the kingdom of light, and may Janice and her family find comfort during this sad time. Given the increasingly serious public health situation Scotland's Bishops have decided to postpone the return of the Sunday Mass obligation which had been scheduled for the start of January.
In a statement they say: "At the beginning of Advent the Bishops of Scotland looked forward to welcoming the faithful back to Holy Mass and anticipated that the restoration of the Sunday Obligation might be possible as we begin the New Year.Sadly, there has been a serious worsening of the situation and the restoration of the obligation will be postponed until a more favourable time. For us Sunday is always a Holy Day and we invite those who are unable to be with us in person to continue to join with us in prayer and spiritual communion either by personal or family prayers or by online celebrations of Mass. We ask everyone to continue to pray for a speedy end to the pandemic and for the good health of you and your loved ones in 2022. We also pray for all those who passed during 2021 and those who grieve. May Our Lady Health of the Sick pray for us and may Saints Andrew and Margaret protect us." If you can, participate in either the Christmas Eve 5:00 p.m. Vigil or our 10:00 a.m. live streamed Christmas Masses on our YouTube Channel on this link.
If you aren't online, an option is dial a Mass which is on 0141 473 4869. These are exceptional times we are living in with this latest variant and the threat that it poses, and therefore exceptional messaging is required. This Christmas, please, if you can, stay in. If, however, you are coming to the Christmas Eve 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. or Christmas Day 10:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. Mass, then you are advised to:
All at St Andrew's and St Joseph’s wish all at St Nicholas' a safe and happy Christmas school holiday.

Wishing you a very happy Christmas and a peaceful year 2022 ahead. Following recent guidelines from the Scottish Government, social distancing has had to be reintroduced to the total seating area of our church and both halls.
We had, as you'll have seen over the past months, retained two areas in our church, which were dedicated for social distancing. The reintroduction of all our seating area being arranged for social distancing means that our seating capacity has been considerably reduced again. It pains me greatly to have to say this, but in order to avoid people turning up for Mass on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and not being able to get in because we have reached capacity, and also paying heed to the First Minister's message about us making every effort to reduce our social contacts, this Christmas I would urge you to stay in and stay safe. If you can, participate in either the Christmas Eve 5:00 p.m. Vigil or our 10:00 a.m. live streamed Christmas Masses on our YouTube Channel on this link. If you aren't online, an option is dial a Mass which is on 0141 473 4869. I said it last year and unfortunately I'm having to say it again this year, that I never ever thought as a priest I would be standing up at Mass and urging people not to come out to Mass. But these are exceptional times we are living in with this latest variant and the threat that it poses, and therefore exceptional messaging is required. This Christmas, please, stay in. If, however, you are coming to Mass, then you are advised to:
Thank you for listening, and all the very best for this final week of Advent and I take this opportunity to wish you a Safe, Happy and Holy Christmas New QR code notices have been located in our driveway and at the entrance to both the church and hall, which should aid the flow of people going into Mass.
