St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s Youth Ministries Team invite you to joint them for a Carol Singing Advent Reflection Evening on Friday 17th December at 7pm at St Andrew’s, followed by festive treats in the hall.
All welcome (children must be accompanied by an adult). We will be using QR Codes to help manage access and track and trace attendance, so please download the NHS Scotland ‘Check in Scotland’ app. There will be a raffle held during this event and any prize donations would be welcome. Advent is a journey toward Christmas.
It is a time to prepare. It is a time to get ready. A time for waiting and watching. And Advent is an appropriate time to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation, to go to confession. As well as extra times for Advent Confessions in both St Joseph’s and St Andrew's, in St Nicholas', over the next few weeks, there will be Advent Confessions for the P4 to P7 pupils. ... there's nothing better than the gift of God's mercy. Pope Francis has asked the whole Church to be involved in and journey together towards the General Assembly of Bishops in 2023.
The focus of the Assembly will be, “For a synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission”. As we are still without an Archbishop, the Diocesan Administrator, Monsignor Bradley, now invites parishes in the archdiocese of Glasgow to consider hosting synod meetings to consider these three topics. Our parish will therefore be looking at making arrangements so that you can think about what important things you need to say. Feedback from our parish will be fed into a Deanery Synodal meeting, which will help collate a Diocesan response. Some of our Scottish Bishops will gather in Rome for a Synod (meeting) in 2023 to listen to what you are saying about our journeying together. Following this, Pope Francis will write to the whole Church reflecting what has been discerned from this process. The Synodal process is a journey of the whole Church, listening to the Holy Spirit in every baptized voice in the Church’s family. Keep your eye on our bulletin and social media for details of arrangements of St Andrew's engaging in this journey. We are finalising the list for First Confession(P3) and Confirmation (P7) and will be passing your information onto the appropriate Parish.
I would remind all parents that you must register with your Parish as well as letting the school know if your child is making either of these Sacraments. We have made contact with everyone in P3 and P7 who had not responded to the school and if you have not replied, we are now assuming that you do not wish your child to make their Sacrament. If this is not the case, please contact the school ASAP. Mrs Grogan Many congratulations on Turnbull High being selected as a winner in the Learning Community Award category in the Daily Record and Education Scotland Learning for Sustainability Awards 2021.
