We all need to be forgiven by others, so we must all be ready to forgive. Asking and granting forgiveness is something profoundly worthy of man; sometimes it is the only way out of situations marked by age-old and violent hatred."
"Lasting peace however is not just a matter of structures and mechanisms. It rests above all on the adoption of a style of human coexistence marked by mutual acceptance and a capacity to forgive from the heart. We all need to be forgiven by others, so we must all be ready to forgive. Asking and granting forgiveness is something profoundly worthy of man; sometimes it is the only way out of situations marked by age-old and violent hatred." Pope St. John Paul II, Message for World Day of Peace 1997

Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation for S1 St Andrew's Parish pupils will be on 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26thNovember at 7pm.
Please keep the candidates in your prayers. Hopefully, all families are finding the online catechesis for home learning and the instructional video useful. If any assistance is needed in these final weeks, please don't hesitate to call or email. This year, SCIAF is asking people in Scotland to buy a water filter as a Christmas gift to help parents in Ethiopia to protect their children from preventable diseases caused by dirty and unsafe water.
It will also enable the women and girls who would normally spend hours walking to fetch often dirty, dangerous water, to get an education and learn the skills they need to break the poverty cycle. Please see the poster and catalogue on the church notice board or visit www.sciaf.org.uk/realgifts for some other gift ideas. Although our soup run volunteers cannot visit their usual places, we have continued throughout lockdown, with some additional volunteers, to deliver hot and cold food to various charities and organisations in Glasgow. Our intention this year is to give Christmas gifts to the Wayside centre for distribution to homeless in Glasgow as well as other centres if possible. Your help is needed to make this happen please!
This year unfortunately, all donations will need to be gift wrapped by you or put in a gift bag and include all the items on the list below. These should be brought to church on one weekend only before or after each Mass on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December. Please make clear whether the gift is for male or female. Please include these items: a hand written Christmas card, small selection box or Chocolates, hat, gloves, scarf, underwear, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush and ladies to include sanitary products. Just a reminder - Primary Three enrolment for the Sacraments, and Primary Seven enrolment for Confirmation - please collect a form before or just after daily or Sunday Mass from your parish of either St Joseph's or St Andrew's.
