Reopening of church, and Restrictions Update

The First Minister today announced the good news that churches will be able to reopen from Friday 26th March. This is conditional, though, on the current improvements in the statistics continuing, and a final decision will be made on Tuesday 23rd March.

It is thought, though, that the Government would not have announced this unless they were fairly confident that it would happen.

The maximum permitted attendance at each Mass will be 50. This is good news, too, as we were permitted only 20 just before lockdown.

It is hoped that when we do reopen, that baptisms, confessions, Stations of the Cross will also be allowed.  

Weddings will still remain severely capped at 5, and the maximum attendance at funerals will unfortunately still remain at 20.  

The archdiocese will be sending out advice soon on how we are to celebrate the Holy Week liturgies safely.
