Hope all’s well.
Hill Street Blues. 80s' American cop show. Remember it?
The sergeant would gather all the police of Hill Street together to let them know about the crime in the area and he’d always finish up, bid his officers farewell with the important advice, ‘Let’s be careful out there’
I wish they’d do reruns of HSB
Jesus has his disciples gathered together (today’s gospel) and he’s letting them know how difficult it will be for them out there.
You’ll meet with hatred. You’ll be persecuted. You’ll encounter hostility just because you are being faithful, he said to them.
The cost of discipleship is what he was spelling out to them.
Discipleship will mean at times meeting with hatred and hostility and ridicule just because you’re a believer. Respond with love and compassion.
Be careful out there because it’s not an easy place to be a believer, but it is thee place, the only place in which we are called to be a believer, it is the only place, hard as it is at times, in which we are called to witness.
Have a good weekend.
It will be an audio tomorrow
Take care
