So here we are having now entered into another three weeks of lockdown life, but also near the end of the Easter octave.
We’ve journeyed though the octave reflecting a little each day on the Easter gospel stories.
In all the appearances that the risen Jesus makes - they all end with a command.
Remember Christ’s meeting with Mary Magdalene and what he said to her - Go and tell.
In the Easter night gospel, to the women he said - Go and tell my brothers.
The two disciples of Emmaus tell their story of what had happened on the road.
In the gospel for today’s Easter Saturday Mass, the risen Jesus appears to the eleven when they are at table, and he said to them - Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News.
The eleven were given this command.
We too have been given the same joyful command.
As Christians, we are to communicate to those with whom we live and work that Christ is alive.
Elsewhere in the gospels Jesus said - Let your light shine.
At the end of his time here on earth, Jesus gave the joyful command - Go out to the whole world.
As his disciples, as Christ’s followers, as his friends he wants his light, the light of Christ within us, to shine through our behaviour and our words.
Go out.......Tell.......proclaim the Good News.
Fingers crossed tomorrow for the final day of the octave I’ll try and do an audio recording of A few words.
Take care
