The support the children and staff receive from our Parish priests is invaluable. Unfortunately, we cannot have our usual open door policy with Father Currie and Father Mackle and we are certainly missing their stories and words of reassurance as they pass through the school.
However, I am glad to say we have found a way around this. On the First Friday of each month, the parishes are recording a liturgy for our children based on an appropriate liturgical theme. The children have really enjoyed hearing about the purpose of the Rosary and the importance of remembering our loved one’s in the month of November.
The Parish Priests have also managed to introduce themselves to our new P1s and meet with our current P5s ahead of their First Communion. These meetings have been outdoors and we plan to extend these.
Over the course of this term, Father Currie and Father Mackle will meet a different class each Thursday afternoon for a short 15-minute chat. Although being outside is not ideal, Father Currie and Father Mackle are looking at some innovative ways that they can chat and be active with the children during these times.
