Hope all's well.
Again, pinging this off early. Beautiful clear blue sky. Think it’s going to be another scorcher.
Within church circles, it's not uncommon to hear the maintenance vs mission discussion.
The challenge of every parish is to have a healthy balance of both maintenance and mission.
We must maintain what we have and build on it, and go out, reach out from where we are, with what we have, to take the gospel to others - that’s mission.
The vocation of the Church, indeed the vocation, the job of each one of us, by virtue of our baptism, is to share the precious gift of faith for the benefit of others. And it is such a precious gift. We know that.
Yes, as the parish of St Andrew here in Bearsden, we are called not just to maintain the parish, but also to serve others near and far, to reachout, to proclaim the Good News, to be missionaries.
The Good News is that God made us......and he made us to know him, to love him, to serve him, so that we can be happy with his forever.
Each of us is to do what we can among those with whom we live and work to let the word of God continue to spread and gain followers.
There have been quite a few lockdown birthdays of parishioners. Many congratulations to them all.
If you'd like us to give you or someone you know a lockdown birthday shoutout when it's your special day, let us know.
Have a good day
Take care
