A few words....
Hope all is going well. Grateful to Deacon Tommy for today’s Preparing for Pentecost reflection. Something we are to truly believe is that no prayer ever goes unheard. God hears our every prayer because he cares for us. So, here’s a prayer date to note - next Sunday 31st May 6.15pm Archbishop Tartaglia will lead the rosary live streamed from St Andrew’s Cathedral. A chance to join our prayers with Our Lady’s prayers to God. Next Sunday is Pentecost Sunday and the 50th and final day of the Easter Season. Here’s something for St Joseph’s and St Andrew’s parishes. How about putting pictures of flames or doves in your window or light a candle for Pentecost? As parishes, we may continue to be physically isolated, but we're not separated. We are united as the body of Christ.... We are the Church. Praying at Pentecost, praying for the coming of the Holy Spirit, can help us to realise and appreciate that we are all with one another in prayer. Why not take a photo of Pentecost at your home and send it in to be posted. Photos to be emailed to both elizabeth_reid@ntlworld.com and peter_rossi@hotmail.co.uk Some news. Archbishop Tartaglia has written to all parishes to invite clergy to be involved in the planning of an exit strategy for reopening our churches when circumstances permit. Our parish’s clergy’s responses to the consultation will go in tonight’s post. The responses of all the clergy in the archdiocese will be collated, and principal conclusions drawn will be presented to the Bishops Conference of Scotland working group, which next meets on 2nd June. I’ll keep you posted of any developments. Again, there’s a great feeling of journeying together into the 'new norm' - starting at the right place, in the Power of the Holy Spirit... Remember tonight’s 9@9 call to prayer to the Holy Spirit Hope you have a safe and happy Sunday. Fr Mackle A few words....
Hope all’s well. We clap every Thursday at 8pm to show our admiration and appreciation for key workers, NHS staff and carers. It’s a sign of gratitude for all that they are doing tackling coronavirus, and looking after and caring for those most in need at this time. Clapping hands has always been a way of showing appreciation, of saying thanks. ‘Clap your hands, cry to God with shouts of joy’ Today’s psalm. Clap your hands for the one true God. Clap your hands in appreciation for your many blessings from God. Clap your hands in thanks for the gift of another day. Clap your hands for the promise God has given, ‘I am with you always’ Clap your hands, cry to God with shouts of joy. Remember, 9@9 call to prayer to the Holy Spirit. Tremendous feeling of beginning our walk into the 'new norm' - starting at the right place, in the Power of the Holy Spirit... Looking forward to Deacon Tommy’s audio tomorrow Have a safe and happy Saturday. Take care Fr Mackle Requiescat in pace

You will be able to find it here www.youtube.com/channel/UCwxLftBw5I5W-Khbxzs18CQ A few words... Hope all is going well. The pain of grief is the price of love. When we lose someone close to us, we feel deeply the sore pain of grief. We experience strong feelings of sorrow and sadness. Jesus is very realistic and very understanding. He knows that when he is taken from his disciples that they will be plunged into a deep sorrow and sadness. He knows that they will be hurting. You will be weeping he says (today’s gospel) You will be sorrowful. But he goes on to say that this painful experience won’t last forever. He gives them hope and says that their sorrow will turn to joy. In other words, death won’t have the last word. Sorrow and sadness won’t be final. Think back to the early days of lockdown (seems like forever ago) when we were reminded of the Emmaus story. The two disciples discovered the truth of Christ’s words of sorrow turning to joy. This is something, with faith, we are to believe - that sorrow will turn to joy. Remember tonight the 9@9 prayer to the Holy Spirit. It’s at the foot of the page. Let us all, each in our own home, unite in prayer and spirit each night at 9 for 9 nights. If there are others in the house, pray it together. Maybe say it in front of your May altar. Come, Holy Spirit. Hope you have a good day Take care Fr Mackle 9@9 Prayer
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen. Dear Fr Mackle,
I hope my email finds you well and that these challenging times are proving bearable for yourself and your congregation. Following your kind support to Lepra in September last year, I am emailing you to see if you would vote for Lepra. We have the opportunity to receive a £1000 donation from the Ecclesiastical Movement for Good awards, but to do so we need your help please! As you know, £1,000 could make a huge difference to our work, especially now, and your nomination could be the one that wins us £1,000. In total, 500 charities stand to gain £1,000 and we’d love to be one of them. It’s quick and easy to nominate Lepra - just visit https://www.movementforgood.com/#nominateACharity and enter our details. You’ll be asked to enter a charity number (213251), and then Lepra should auto populate below. Lepra’s charity type is Health. Then you just need to enter your name and email address. The closing date for nominations is 24th May. The next step is just as important - please share with your congregation in your newsletter if possible ! The more nominations we get, the greater our chance of winning, so please spread the word. With best wishes Laurice Telephone Fundraiser Faith Lepra Requiescant in pace We pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of Maurice Boyce, whose funeral will take place today, Friday 22nd May, at 12noon at Langfaulds.
